Happy Chuseok, Everyone

Today is chuseok, the harvest moon festival in Korea. People get a three-day holiday, and the roads and the trains are packed to the brim as the 12 million people of Seoul visit their hometowns.

Here is a nice picture of the bright chuseok moon, taken in Seoul circa 1969.

  1. What do you say to each other at Chuseok? I've always wondered. I was very new to Korea last year.

Whatever it is, I'm saying it to you. Thanks for the pictures, it's fascinating to see how different Korea was in the not-so-distant past.

  2. When I went to Korea to get married, they took me to a rural cemetery for Chuseok.
