I wonder how many Korean American non-adoptees wanted to be white when growing up. I remember growing up wishing I had honey-gold hair and parents who didn't make me memorize the times table over summer vacation.
Probably lots. It goes both ways though. When I went to Korea, I started to wish that my mom had a perm, my dad wore shiny metallic suits and that my grandmother had carried me on her back when I was younger.
